Foundation of the Guild.
The Guild of St. Anthony of Padua was founded in England on the 23 of November, 1895 by the Franciscan with its Headquarter at Basilica of St. Anthony in Padua, Italy. It was founded in Nigeria, in 1920 by the Early Missionary Priests, while the Lagos Archdiocese Guild was founded on 13th June,1959 at St. Dominic Catholic Church Yaba, by late pa Martin Ogunneye as the first Promoter of the Guild. Isolo Deanery Guild was carved out from Parishes in the former Apapa and Badagry Deaneries on January, 2014 by the Archbishop of Lagos Metropolitan See, Most Rev.Dr.Alfred Adewale Martins.
Who is St. Anthony of Padua?
The Guild of St. Anthony of Padua is one of the Pious societies of the Catholic Church. St. Anthony of Padua is the only Saint attributed to numerous miracles worldwide. His deeds, virtues and miracles are everywhere extended. He was born in Lisbon, Portugal on the 15th of August, 1195 on the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary(BVM). He was Christened and named Ferdinard and was later changed to Anthony when he joined the Franciscan Religious Order due to his desire to die as a martyr.

Aims of the Guild is to:
Spread devotion to St. Anthony through works of Charity and Evangelization (provision of bread for the poor in his name)
Strengthen Christian faith, morals and participate actively in various apostolate works of the Church.
Participate in the Guild programmes and meetings at Archdiocese, Deaneries and Parishes.
Support specific works of the Guild through cash and kind donations.
Practice humility, love, and fraternity.
